About Quiet Oaks
“Quiet Oaks” came to be in July of 2007. The month before, my sister was visiting from Canada, and we were staying in a B&B in San Antonio. Sitting in the dining room at breakfast, and studying the Innkeeper and our beautiful surroundings, I wondered if that was something I could do as a means to funnel more customers into my kayak business. My home then, now Quiet Oaks, was often referred to by my friends as “The Bed and Breakfast.” I certainly never saw it in that light, until that day.
Quiet Oaks was built over 75 years ago, by a local rice farmer. The 75 yr old frame farm house, sits on 50 acres, and features its original pine floors and white washed pine walls and ceilings. Two beautiful antique cypress front doors adorned with bottle stained glass, not original, were added in 1990 when the house was fully renovated.
The attic space was also converted to a luxurious en suite that features an open loft plan. Windows were a way of cooling this Danbury Inn prior to air conditioning, so natural light and views of the countryside with cattle and the resident horse, are a common sight.
I have taken great care in providing a space that others could enjoy. I hope you will enjoy your stay with me!
